Vegetable Shami Kebab

One of my favourite teatime snack, had tried it during my initial days of cooking! Recently, when friends called and were planning to drop by for tea, remembered this dish and quickly did the soaking, cooking, grating, chopping……..and kept all the ingredients ready for the snack.

Ingredients|Preparation Time:45 mins|

  • Soya Chunks(Soaked for 15mins in hot water, drained and ground) 100gms
  • Potato(Boiled, Peeled and mashed) 100gms
  • Channa Dal(Soaked for 30 mins and ground coarsely) 100gms
  • Bread Sliced(Soaked and crushed) 6 slices
  • Carrot(Grated) 1 large
  • Onion(Grated) 1 large
  • Green Chillies(Finely chopped) 4-5
  • Garam masala powder 1 tbspn
  • Salt as per taste
  • Coriander leaves(Finely chopped) 2 tbspn
  • Ginger(Finely chopped) 1 tbspn
  • Bread Crumbs – Just enough to roll the patties and fry
  • Oil just enough to deep fry

Method|Cooking Time: 20-30 mins|

Simultaneously, all the ingredients can be kept ready. Once all the ingredients are ready, mix it well in a mixing bowl and make patties or rounds out of it and roll them over the bread crumbs. Heat the oil in a deep frier pan, and fry the patties until crisp, medium brown. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
