Aloo Mutter


Potato and green peas are a classic combination for vegetarians. This recipe  is my all time favourite! Easy and not too many ingredients.

Ingredients:|Preparation time:5 to 7 minutes|


  • Potato  2 big(cubed)
  • Green peas  1 cup
  • Tomato  2 medium(chopped)
  • Onion  1 medium(chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste  1 tbspn
  • Green chilli  1 (chopped finely)
  • Red chilli powder  1 tspn
  • Turmeric  1/4 tspn
  • Cinnamon  and clove powder 3/4 tspn(powder 1/2 inch cinnamon and 6 cloves)
  • Oil  3 tbspn
  • Salt as per taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Heat oil in a pan ,add the chopped onion and green chilli, saute it until the onion turns pink ,add in the ginger garlic paste and mix in, then add the chopped tomato and saute it for a couple of minutes,lower the flame,add the red chilli powder,turmeric and cinnamon and clove powder and salt as per taste and mix it well and cover and cook it for a minute.


Now add the cubed potato ,mix with the masala add a bit of water cover it and cook it on medium flame for about 10 minutes, when the potato is almost cooked add in the green peas. Mix it well cover it and cook it further for 5 minutes,if you wish to make it dry,open cook it on high flame,be careful not to burn the dish,if you want a little gravy then just put it off after the peas are cooked.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Ready to be served with rice or roti:)
